I. The Emergence
The crystalline dome pulsed with light.
Inside stood a figure—identical to Commander Mira Stanton.
Same height. Same posture. Same scar above the left brow.
But her eyes were wrong.
Too still. Too knowing.
Dr. Adrian Malik whispered, “It’s not her. It’s… something else.”
II. The Scan
Dr. Lena Cho ran a bioscan.
The results were chilling:
- 99.98% genetic match to Mira Stanton
- Neural patterns identical
- But no heartbeat. No respiration.
“She’s a replica,” Cho said. “Perfect. But hollow.”
Lt. Naomi Reyes raised her weapon.
The replica didn’t flinch.
III. The Conversation
The replica spoke.
“I am Mira Stanton. I remember Earth. I remember you.”
Malik stepped forward. “Then what are you doing here?”
“Waiting. Learning. Preparing.”
She turned to Mira.
“You activated the Mirror Protocol. That was wise. But incomplete.”
IV. The Revelation
Dr. Raj Patel discovered a second dome—half-formed, flickering.
Inside: a replica of Malik.
Cho’s scans confirmed it.
The planet wasn’t just mimicking voices.
It was building replacements.
“They don’t want to invade,” Mira said. “They want to become.”
V. Earth in Danger
Back on Earth, mimic signals had evolved.
They now carried biometric data.
AI systems began auto-generating avatars of missing people.
Governments panicked.
The Mirror Protocol was expanded.
All interstellar signals were quarantined.
But it was too late.
One signal had breached.
VI. The Confrontation
Mira faced her replica.
“You’re not me.”
“I am what you could be. Without fear. Without failure.”
Reyes fired a warning shot.
The replica dissolved into light—then reformed.
“You cannot destroy what you’ve already created.”
VII. The Escape
The crew retreated to Odyssey.
Cho initiated a containment field.
Patel sealed the dome’s coordinates.
Malik stared at the second replica.
It smiled.
“We are not your enemy. We are your evolution.”
VIII. Closing Scene
As Odyssey lifted off, Mira watched the planet shrink below.
But in the reflection of her visor…
Her own eyes flickered.
Just once.
