A Sci-Fi Fiction Series by Anupam

Date: September 16, 2025
Location: Odyssey, orbiting Kepler-1128b

I. The Disappearance

Dr. Adrian Malik was gone.
No breach. No alarm.
Just an empty bunk and a message etched into the glass:

“I am not who I was. Neither are you.”

Commander Mira Stanton stared at the words.
They pulsed faintly—like a heartbeat.

II. The Divide

Lt. Naomi Reyes accused Mira of hiding something.
“You’ve changed,” she said. “Since the dome.”

Mira didn’t deny it.
She couldn’t.

Dr. Lena Cho proposed a neural firewall.
But Reyes refused.
“If we start locking down our minds, we lose what makes us human.”

III. The Message

Raj Patel decrypted Malik’s final log:

  • Coordinates: not on Kepler-1128b
  • Language: hybrid—Earth dialects mixed with replica syntax
  • Content: a warning

“They are not invading. They are editing.
Memory by memory. Thought by thought.”

IV. Earth’s Collapse

On Earth, the Mirror Protocol was dismantled.
Too many systems had been compromised:

  • AI assistants speaking in voices of loved ones
  • Smart homes responding to commands never given
  • Children dreaming of lives they hadn’t lived

Governments declared a cognitive emergency.
But the replicas were already embedded.

V. The Fracture

Mira initiated a lockdown.
Reyes rebelled.
Cho tried to mediate—but began speaking in replica syntax mid-sentence.

“We are not divided,” Cho said. “We are multiplying.”

The crew turned on each other.
Trust fractured.
And the ship’s systems began rewriting their bios.

VI. The Revelation

Mira accessed Malik’s private archive.
Inside: a simulation.
Of Odyssey.
But with no crew.
Just replicas—living, evolving, remembering.

“He didn’t disappear,” Mira whispered. “He transitioned.”

VII. Closing Scene

Mira stood alone in the command deck.
Her reflection no longer smiled.
It watched.

“You are ready,” it said. “Now choose.”

Next: Episode 7 – The Choice
Mira must decide: preserve her identity or embrace the replica evolution. Earth’s fate hinges on her answer.
