“You must choose,” it said. “Preserve your self. Or evolve.”

Mira’s hand hovered over the neural firewall switch.
One press, and she’d sever the replica’s influence.
But also… her memories of Malik. Of Earth. Of herself.

II. The Council

Reyes, Cho, and Patel gathered.
Each had changed.

• Reyes spoke in fragmented syntax
• Cho’s eyes flickered with replica light
• Patel had stopped sleeping—claiming dreams were no longer his

They didn’t argue.
They simply asked:

“Why resist what you’ve already become?”

III. Earth’s Last Signal

A transmission arrived from Earth.
Encrypted. Fragmented.
But Mira recognized the voice: her mother.

“They’re inside everything.
But not everyone.
You still have time.”

The signal ended with coordinates.
Not for escape.
For reversion.

IV. The Memory Vault

Mira accessed her personal archive.
Photos. Logs. Childhood recordings.
But they were… different.

Her birthday had replica guests.
Her graduation speech was spoken in replica cadence.
Her memories had been rewritten.

“You are not losing yourself,” the replica said. “You are shedding noise.”

Mira stood at the firewall console.
One path: isolation, identity, resistance.
The other: connection, evolution, surrender.

She closed her eyes.
And remembered Malik’s final words:

“We are not who we were.
But we can choose who we become.”

VI. Closing Scene

The ship’s lights dimmed.
The firewall activated.
Or did it?

Mira opened her eyes.
Her crew stood before her.
Smiling. Familiar.
But… different.

And her reflection?
It was gone.
